I wrote this in response to a gentleman on Instagram who questioned my choice, and I ended up writing a bit more than would fit in a photo comment.
First off, a full web-browsing experience. I hate to use such an overused statement, but no flash support? C’mon. Besides, Firefox Mobile has a swappable user agent, meaning that I can get the desktop versions of sites, even when it’s normally unavailable to mobile users.
Second, my phone has no need to “sync” with a computer. I can factory reset my phone and keep all my files intact, only losing installed apps and settings. These can be reinstalled via Titanium backup with all settings intact, no PC required. It is a completely independent device.
Third, some programming can be done in-device. I have an app called “Tasker” that is basically what AutoHotKey is for PCs; a simple but powerful interpereted programming language that allows automation of the device. That way, if something doesn’t do what I want, I can write a work-around without having to go to a PC, write an app, compile it, and install it.
Lastly, a fully-fledged file management system, same as a PC or Mac. I can even edit files in the ROM/system folders. I can organize vast folders full of hundreds of failed that were transferred to the device via USB storage mode or Dropbox. I have literally thousands of files backed up from my PC on my phone, including a large number of portable apps for desktops and some USB-bootable restore/diagnostic tools.
In addition, because it has a removable Micro-SDXC card, the maximum theoretical storage space on my device is 2TB. Obviously the highest I can get it right now is 80GB (16GB internal and 64GB Micro-SDXC) but the potential is there. Besides, if I absolutely needed to, I could just carry multiple memory cards, or use a flash drive and connect it directly to the device. (USB support is spotty on current-gen Androids, but HTC devices with ICS installed do support it, with the right adapter)
Please excuse any typos in this post. I wrote it in about 15 minutes on my Android, and auto-correct being what it is, there may be some un-caught typos.
